Fiona Joske

Fiona Joske

Dr Fiona Joske is a General Practitioner whose practice is in Longford.

She was born in Melbourne but moved to Tasmania as a teenager and completed her schooling at The Friends School in Hobart. She graduated in Medicine from the University of Tasmania in 1979.

Fiona practiced in Smithton for 17 years before moving to Longford in 1999. Both these practices have a strong commitment to teaching medical students and to postgraduate training for GP Registrars.

Fiona is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners for whom she is an examiner, having previously been a National Coordinator of the Fellowship examination. She set up and, until 2006, chaired the State Interview Panel for assessing overseas trained doctors wishing to work in rural General Practice in Tasmania. She has also been a General Practice consultant to the Health Insurance Commission.

Fiona is currently a Member of the Medical Council of Tasmania, Chair of General Practice Workforce Tasmania, and a Director of Eskleigh Foundation.

Fiona is married to Tim Flanagan, also a GP, and they have two children, Lucy and Michael.
